Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of compoundcalc.com. They are deliberately short and readable, because a set of terms nobody can follow protects nobody.

1. Agreement

By using this website you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please stop using the site. They apply to every page, every calculator and the embeddable widget described in section 6.

2. What this site is

CompoundCalc is an educational reference: a set of compound interest, savings and financial-independence calculators together with plain-English guides explaining the mathematics behind them. It exists so that a reader can check a number and understand where it came from.

3. What this site is not

CompoundCalc is not a financial adviser, an investment platform, a bank, a broker or a regulated firm of any kind. Nothing here is:

  • personal financial, investment, tax, pension, mortgage or legal advice;
  • a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any product, security or account;
  • a forecast of what any real investment will actually return;
  • a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who knows your circumstances.

The full position is set out on the disclaimer page, which forms part of these terms.

4. Accuracy, assumptions and estimates

The calculators implement standard compound-growth formulas and are tested against independently computed reference values before publication — the method is documented on the methodology page. Even so, every output is an estimate produced from the assumptions you enter. Real returns vary year to year, and taxes, platform fees, fund charges, inflation, currency movements and your own behaviour all change the outcome.

The site is provided “as is”. No warranty is given that content is complete, current or free of error, or that the site will be available without interruption. If you find a mistake, please report it — see the corrections policy.

5. Your responsibilities

  • You are responsible for the numbers you enter and for any decision you make afterwards.
  • Do not use the site in a way that damages it, interferes with other users, or breaks any law.
  • Do not scrape the site at a rate that degrades service, or attempt to bypass access controls.
  • Automated collection for the purpose of republishing the content as your own is not permitted.

6. Intellectual property and permitted reuse

The text, page structure, design and calculator source code on this site belong to CompoundCalc, except where a third party is credited. Mathematical formulas themselves are not owned by anyone and you are free to use them.

You may:

  • quote a short extract with clear attribution and a link to the page it came from;
  • print or save pages for your own personal, non-commercial reference;
  • embed the calculator on your own site using the code on the embed page, provided the visible attribution link is left intact.

You may not republish pages in bulk, present the content as your own work, or remove attribution from the embedded widget.

7. Advertising

The site is free and is funded by advertising. Ads are supplied by third-party networks and are clearly separated from editorial content and labelled. Advertisers have no influence over what the guides say or how the calculators compute. Legal and methodology pages are excluded from ad placement. Details of the cookies involved are in the Cookie Policy.

8. Links to other sites

Outbound links are provided for reference. CompoundCalc does not control those sites and is not responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CompoundCalc is not liable for any loss arising from use of, or reliance on, this website — including investment losses, lost profits, lost savings or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the minimum permitted by law.

10. Changes

These terms may be updated as the site changes. The date at the top always shows the current version, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer protection you have where you live. Questions go to contact@compoundcalc.com.
